Welcome to Corporate Training
Climate Awareness

Climate Change is an important issue for us all and in October 2019 the County Council set a target of achieving carbon neutrality from its activities as soon as possible and in any event by 2050.

In February 2020 Cabinet approved a corporate climate emergency action plan for 2020-22.

The likely impacts in East Sussex;

DIRECT:

  • Flooding more frequent and intense
  • Drought & extreme heat episodes
  • More heat-related deaths - particularly the elderly
  • Damage to essential infrastructure
  • Impact on coastal habitats & erosion

INDIRECT:

  • Disruption to supply chains
  • Increased cost of food and goods
  • Disruption to service provision
  • Potential migration issues
