As a new employee, there can be a lot to take in. Your manager will guide you in learning the ropes and there will be a series of structured reviews to ensure you receive the appropriate support which will enable you to flourish in your new role.

There are a series of e-learning packages that all new employees need to complete.
This course must be completed by all starters in their first week of work in order to get email and full internet access. On completion and a pass an email will go straight to ICT.

If you have recently started in a managerial position you may also want to look at the Leadership and Management section where you will find courses and information about the Maximising Performance process, the Leadership Capabilities Framework as well as courses and training that will support your career as a leader at East Sussex County Council.
New staff to Children's Services should also complete the Safeguarding children e-learning module as part of their induction. If your job role involves direct contact with children or regular visits to venues where children are present it is mandatory that you also take the classroom based course: Basic Child Protection Training - Signs & Indicators - Recognition & Response (available to be booked on the East Sussex Learning Portal).
New Children's Services Staff Welcome Session
The welcome session is the induction for all staff new to the Children's Services department.
It provides an opportunity for new staff to understand the breadth and diversity of the department, learn about key issues and to meet members of the Senior Management Team.
Where possible, all staff new to the department should attend a welcome sesion within 3 months of starting work.
The sessions start with refreshments and are approxiamately 3 hours long.
