Flexible Working

Everyone works better when they have an appropriate balance between work and other aspects of their lives. There is a range of ways to work flexibly.

All staff with 26 weeks' continuous service have a statutory right to request flexible working. In some jobs, this may be limited by the nature of the service you provide, such as front line services directly supporting the community. In these situations, your manager will consider the possible options with you.

If you do agree a flexible working arrangement with your line manager you may find the online courses below helpful.

Flexible working guidance for line managers

Flexible working creates different demands in the way you manage staff. It is even more important than before to build up a relationship of trust with your team so you know they are working to meet their objectives, but it's also important that you continue to manage their performance in an appropriate way. If members of a team are not regularly in the same place at the same time it can affect motivation levels so your ability to motivate the team, and create space for team meetings during the week become very important.

These online modules will provide you with guidance on how to manage staff working flexibly.
